Case Study: Furnishing the extension

The client brief

The client had added an 80 square metre extension and wanted to create a real Wow factor kitchen.

They liked to entertain friends and were a very active household with kids who liked to get involved with cooking.

They also wanted to include a double island after seeing an image in our portfolio.

The challenge

It was a large space to fill, so you don’t want the room to feel that it has just been filled with units – there has to be an elegance and purpose to its layout.

There was a detailed Siemens appliance list to accommodate too.

We designed the space with functional areas in mind, so each functional area would work seamlessly together.

Areas were created for cooking and entertaining that could be easily accessible to the kids too – to cook and keep tidy.

What we did

The space lent itself to using various textures and colours to enhance design detail.

The double island was designed as a focal point in Silver Brown, whilst the wall units complemented with Denver Oak. Worktops were designed using Silestone in colour Merope with a suede finish

The double island was designed to be practical for cooking and stylish for entertaining. It housed a preparation sink with a Quooker three in one tap – the stylish sink has since also been used as an effective ice bucket on social occasions!

Display cabinets using black glass added a sophisticated finish, a social drinks area was created using Silver Brown with black glass display units.
